For the most part, this is for the betterment of the game. Every time you think you’ve figured out the final boss of the expansion, the story twists again.

This story can get a little complicated because we’re going to a vast number of aesthetically pleasing, but complex areas. A cataclysm is coming, and of course, we’re tapped to solve the problem. This is the end of the Hydaelyn/Zodiark story, so everything has to come to a head, while also giving us something to look forward to. They’re our friends we’ve met along the way. The Scions of the Seventh Dawn are essentially a group of heroes that go around righting wrongs and triumphing over evil. It’s important to not spoil this story, so I’m going to tell you what I can without doing so. Even the Moon is beautiful in its own way, gazing up at the starring sky, in the inky black infinite. Each area is absolutely gorgeous, and the colors pop so hard in 4k. I will say this story has been incredibly compelling, and it was very hard to stop, and do other things – like work. It’s no secret that we also have to head to the Moon, but the actual why, I’ll leave that up to you. To do this, we’ll be heading to some new areas, such as Old Sharalayan, and Thavnair. There is a tremendous cataclysm coming, we’ll make some unlikely allies to see if we can’t save the day.

Since this is the end of the Hydaelyn story arc, we’ve got quite a few things to tie off. In FFXIV: Endwalker, we return home to set things right here as well. In Shadowbringers, we brought back darkness to a land overwhelmed in light and brought balance back. In each FFXIV expansion, we have an overwhelming obstacle to overcome as the Warrior of Light, and Endwalker isn’t an exception, according to this review. They also posted about this on the official website, which you can read here.

As someone that’s been a part of this story since 1.0/Pre-ARR, I’m so glad to see the culmination of the Hydaelyn story arc.Īdmittedly, it’s very hard to play at night right now, but Yoshi-P did give a week’s worth of free game time to the players as a way of apology. They’re experts at making you care about people, and then smashing your feelings into a mushy paste. Shadowbringers, up until this point, was my favorite expansion in the story. Overall, this has been an incredibly emotional expansion, and I wasn’t sure it would be able to top Shadowbringers. No bosses, trials, or duties will be discussed. Anything I talk about is something that is already known. As a point, I will not be spoiling any story content in this FFXIV: Endwalker review. I finished the Main Story and received my “Endwalker” title a day or two ago, and took a few weeks to do so. That’s been people’s biggest complaint so far, is that the queue times later in the day are horrific – 5.2k on more populated servers last night, 2.5k on my main server (Diabolos). This is practically the only game I’ve played for the past couple of weeks, waking up around 5 am to get started, and make sure the queue isn’t long. It’s finally time to review FFXIV: Endwalker, and I’m so glad to do it. By Jason Parker in General | Dec, 14th 2021
